This recipe is a favourite of mine! Onion is known for its antibiotic action and ability to loosen mucous from coughs. Honey is well known for its antibacterial, and antiviral activity. It is also soothing for the throat and masks the taste of the onion.
You just need:
2 brown onions - peeled
Raw local honey
Thickly slice the peeled brown onions and place these in a container. Cover the onion slices well with a thick coating of honey. Place a lid on the container and place it in the fridge overnight.
In the morning a few tablespoons of syrup would have formed. Pour this into a bottle and store in the fridge.
Consume 1 tablespoon of the syrup three times a day.
The onion and honey syrup will continue to develop as the onion breaks down over a few days and each day you will have more syrup.
